Things/ people I miss right now:
- Enzo (Langga, I wish I spent more time with you before I left. =( I miss you the most.)
- Home cooking
- Having to talk really fast in Bisaya. Here, I only speak English (with an American accent, they say) and Tagalog.
- Baboy! Gusto ko ng baboy! Porkchop, lechon kawali, pork belly, barbecue, chicharon, basta baboy!
- My Manila/ Cebu nightlife. At least back home, I get to go out at least once a week or so. Here, I'm just too chicken to explore and besides, I dont have anyone to hang out with. No barkada to speak of, nada. (Awww, loser!)
- I miss Pearl Drive and the glory days of PSRC and the lunch group.
- I miss going to gigs! Waahhhhh...... =(
- I miss my purple (*gag) room. Tata picked out the color for the room and I ended up with it when I was kicked out of our yellow and green room since Enzo was born. Teehee. I miss soundtrips and just lying on my sauna bed.
- I miss my Mom and our parlor trips, my Dad's always-funny jokes, Tata's bullying antics, Pangkoy's midnight snacks and Enzo waking me up rudely. Teehee.
- I miss the Peruvian kids. Mark, peace na tayo tsong. Nikkiboy, miss na kita my other kapatid.
- I miss my girlfriends. *hay. I miss Ail's LOL laugh, Karen's 2am crazy laugh marathon, Doris' whiny Flucky voice, and Jeanice's presence. Love you girls. Here's to our 10th.
- I miss the guyfriends I "lost" along the way. You know who you are. I wish I can mend ties with you again someday. Gosh, I "lost" 3 good guyfriends last year! Grabe, ang hilig makipag-away ng lola. =p
- I even miss jologs bus music. Man, gimme Cueshe anytime! They're a symphony to my ears compared to the "pagsasamba" mosque music they play all day long here. =(
- I miss . . him =( (LDR na ba ito?)
Things/ people that help me through homesickness:
- Mga babae sa opisina. For Joi's far-out jokes and thoughtfulness, Filip's amazing attitude, Melisa's tarayness, Ces' motherly advices, Arlie's sweetness; thank you Lord for giving me these friends.
- Kape, kape. As useless. And oh, Tiramisu cake.
- Internet!
- Watching TV series on my laptop
- My mp3 player.
- Reij, Liver, Ivy, Cobra and Justine, Arlie's flatmates. Friends in Dubai I love hanging out with, when I get the time.
- Inquirer website and PEP. Tee hee. Nothing like catching up on local news and errr... showbiz scandals.
- The Filipino food section in Carrefour hypermarket. =) I swear, I squealed with glee when I saw Purefoods Corned Beef the other day. Brasilian corned beef is too bland.
- Jun Encarnacion parlor. Yes, meron dito.
- Emails. Thank you people.
I'll be 3 months here next week. Dunno when I'll snap out of this emotion sickness.
Uwing-uwi na ako. Waaahhhh...
My birthday wish list:
- I-pod Touch 16GB with docking station
- Either an Olympus waterproof camera/ Sony touchscreen digicam
- lusting after that hot pink Sony Vaio laptop; but I dont intend to replace Acey, my Acer Aspire laptop benevolently donated by Kaio.
- A Toni and Guy haircut
- a huge Filipino breakfast (kanin, tuyo, itlog, tocino, tsokolate, and taho!)
- my Mom's baked macaroni
- Tita Marita's sarsiado
- Tita Judy's chocolate cake
- a bottle of Absolut Kurant
- a UCC food binge
- a gym membership to burn off all that I'll eat
- G2000/TopShop/ H&M/ Mango/ Zara shopping spree
- a tan, and wavy beach-hair
- Or just one itsy bitsy thing: a flight home.
So yeah. I still sound like a boy hitting puberty and my throat really hurts. Good thing, Mam Glo gave me some aloe stuff to drink (!) and it worked! I now have 20% of my voice back.
Lately, a lot of small nice things made me happy the past few weeks; and being such an avid lister, I'm itemizing them here:
- getting my Transcript of Records in record time! 4 working days as compared to the legendary 4-week waiting period. Beat that! If anyone from UPCebu is in a REAL hurry to get their transcript, look for Miss Liza from UP Iloilo. She's a miracle worker and a lot nicer than the snotty UP Cebu Admin people.
- Watching "Knocked Up" and "Chuck and Larry". Nothing like "light" movies for de-stressing.
- Chilled Fibisco Chocolate Mallows. Yum. I buy a box everyday.
- Rekindling my romance with salads and healthy sandwiches. (*eherm.)
- Claire, my "assistant". She's heaven-sent and very efficient. We get along great and I realized there is not a single Miranda Priestly (the bitch boss from "The Devil Wears Prada" fame) bone in my body.
- Buying luggage and a Samsonite passport wallet. Jet-set go!
- Attending Pops' wonderful wedding. I had amazing makeup and even if the corset bodice was poking me all throughout the night, tiis-ganda nalang ako!
Till the next shitlist, kiddies!

Which band or artist which is no longer performing or alive would you have loved to have seen?
Submitted by Rev Stan.
Oh man... This QOTD is SO me! So, I will answer this without further adieu like an eager-beaver geek in a classroom waving her hand violently.. "Me, me, me!" (think Hermione Granger in all those HP classroom scenes).
Jeff Buckley.
I discovered him too late. I started listening to him a good year after he died.
I love this guy to bits; I have his one and only album that he did while he was alive; (the rest of his albums were released posthumously by his Mom). And... I also have a copy of the only legit biography done about him. And I plan to buy more merchandise. (Geek!)
People say that his shows in Sin-e in NY before were phenomenal. I would've loved to see that...
Tim Buckley. Jeff's dad. The bad-boy troubadour.
He was a druggie, a raging alcoholic, and he left Jeff's mom while still pregnant. All his bad boy ways made him an insightful songwriter; and one of the few folk singers in his time to be considered avant-garde.
He had a 5-octave vocal range; (which Jeff inherited) and loved to do different styles per album. Each album was different from the previous one.
Would've loved to see him perform; not only coz he's Jeff's father but mainly because I am greatly intrigued.
Elliott Smith. Another dead guy. I dont understand really why I love the music of dead guys.
Smith had a soulful, soothing voice and can play a mean guitar. His songs were the total opposite of what he really was; an alcoholic who took his own life.
I would've said I'd want to see the Beatles or something; but I'm only handpicking these 3 because they are the most intriguing ones for me. 'Sides, a lot of bands nowadays perform Beatles songs right? Where's the fun in that?

THE AMAZING PEEWEE REVIEWS... A peek into my latest interests……
Good reads: “Angels and Demons” by Dan Brown Eloquently emphasizes the war between God vs. Science. Okay, so the love story part is a bit cheesy for my taste but what the heck, all those religious “do you knows?” are worth it.
Especially loved Camerlengo Carlo Ventresca’s speech during the conclave. I’m gonna add that speech in an entry later on. Bottomline, its really, truly, madly, deeply good!!!!! I have gotta visit the Vatican sometime in my life.
Ear candy: Ours, Dashboard Confessional and Death Cab for Cutie My music for the past two months.
Jimmy Gnecco of Ours sounds like a fusion of Jeff Buckley, Bono of U2, Thom Yorke of Radiohead and Richard Ashcroft of The Verve. Weird thing is, I had exactly the same thoughts as RollingStone magazine Here, I quote an online article, describing Ours’ performance in a concert they opened for Pete Yorn,
“It came early -- four songs into the set -- and sounded like the best Radiohead song written by U2 that Jeff Buckley never sang. In a word, fabulous.”
Dashboard Confessional is of course, emorock at its best. I have yet to buy the “Places You Have Come To Fear the Most” album. I’ve been humming Dash songs for more than a month now and I have yet to fathom Christopher Carrabba’s pain. Who were those bitches who broke his heart? What pain could he have endured to be able to write so intensely and painfully vivid; resounding of paranoia and bitterness?
Death Cab for Cutie is an indie Seattle-based band. They sound just like that, indie. In other words, a bit weird and probably not appreciated by the mainstream audience. I cant really say how they sound like. All I can say is they’re a bit on the shoegazing genre. If their band name’s off the wall, you should be intrigued enough then to listen to them.
The Big Screen: Kill Bill Vol. 2 Completes the gory puzzle of the Kill Bill story. I find myself slightly attracted to Bill’s evil demeanor and great lines. Tarantino’s vision for the sequel isn’t as creative as that of the first movie. But, I have to commend him for finishing the story with pizzazz.
Notably, he used at least two actors from Vol. 1 in the second installment.
First, the sheriff investigating the El Paso Texas Wedding Chapel Massacre played Bill’s Spanish father figure Esteban V-something in the second movie as a pimp operating a whorehouse of plump senoritas.
Johnny Mo, the leader of the Crazy 88’s played Pai Mei in Vol. 2.
The Bride got her vengeance. Interestingly enough, she actually has a name, that of Beatrice Kiddo. (Bill called her Kiddo.) She then meets her daughter BB in the custody of Daddy Bill. The conversation preceding Bill’s big finish was amusing, laden with emotion and wit. I would suggest you watch Kill Bill Vol.1 first before you take on Vol. 2.
I honestly think Vol.1 was a lot more reminiscent of Tarantino than the sequel. Still, Im not complaining. This is one fine movie. The script is fresh and smart, with a killer cinematography and Uma playing the part she will forever be known for.
